Growing Hope runs free Building Blocks for the Local Food Entrepreneur workshops focused on finances, licensing, marketing, food safety, and other skills that allow startup businesses or farmers market vendors to grow their businesses.
Market gardening is the commercial production of fruits, vegetables, flowers, or other plants on a larger scale than a home garden, yet small enough that many principals of gardening are still applicable. The goal, as with all farm operations, is to run a business and make a profit. In this class, Alex Ball of Old City Acres will take you through the basics of starting a market garden and share his successes and challenges. Alex started growing food in his grandparents backyard in 2013 and has since purchased land and grown his farm into a full time business.
