He dedicates himself to raising awareness on international issues regarding women and children, and is committed to issues of global health. Tuschman received photographer of the year from the Global Health Council in 2009-10. 
In 2019, Tuschman launched a project exploring themes of courage and resilience in the faces of immigrants to the United States. As part of this project, Mark has photographed over 100 immigrants and families to help create bridges of understanding in American society.
