Rising for Economic Democracy in Ypsilanti (REDY) aims to include the voices of all residents in decisions about the future of our town. Since our mission is proactive engagement, we hope to learn more about your needs, and to share more about how a Community Benefits Ordinance and REDY can be mutually supportive.
Come together with a budding coalition of Ypsi residents and stakeholders to discuss the formation of a Community Benefits Ordinance (CBO) for the City of Ypsilanti. Join us in this ongoing effort to build greater community participation in development processes. We will discuss what we would want from a CBO and further steps for growing our coalition.
People power grows when we work together around a common goal - ours is to provide a hub of needs and resource sharing; to build awareness and collaboration towards collective impact.
In our first few meetings, we have gathered some feedback about what needs to be included in a CBO. Building on councilperson Lois' work championing this effort since last year - we have heard from the Detroit People's Platform and Sugar Law on their process, hosted community conversations and look to share more.
February 17 we will review CBO 101 information and the input we have heard so far. We will rate the importance of key issues to be included in a CBO outline, and most vitally - move forward a framework for equitable community engagement.
