The MCC program is another tool to spur the sale of homes and enhance homeownership in the State of Michigan. MCC's operate as a federal income tax credit to assist low to moderate income homebuyers. Homebuyers taking advantage of the MCC Program may qualify for 20% of their annual mortgage interest paid to be credited against their year-end tax liability. This is not a one-time tax credit, but continues each year until the origianl mortgage is paid in full. Borrowers must intend to occupy the property as their primart residence, and sales price and income limits apply
