Culture and cause in a community are intertwined concepts that play a significant role in shaping the values, behaviors, and actions of its residents. The cause a community can, in turn, influence its culture by reinforcing behaviors that drive change and keep valued traditions.

Introducing National Black Business Month

National Black Business Month was created in the year 2020 to show appreciation and recognition to black owned businesses.

“All great achievements require time.”- Maya Angelou

Throughout history black businesses have been looked down upon because they were owned by a black person. Their businesses are ridiculed. They are said to have bad services, dirty, and more. This narrative is untruthful. To stop these negative accusations we must support our black owned businesses. This can include shopping, sharing, and donating. When we support black owned businesses we are helping the black community as a whole!

Introducing International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples

International Indigenous Peoples Day was created  to raise awareness of the indigenous population and protect their rights.

“Indigenous people made huge contributions to this country. The biggest is in sharing the land and resources. People need to see that, understand that. Indigenous people should be viewed as the founding peoples of this land.”- Perry Bellegarde

An important day to highlight during the month of August is The International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples. It is observed August 9th of every year to raise awareness of the indigenous population and protect their rights. Indigenous peoples have been historically marginalized, and this day helps to raise awareness about their struggles. It's also a day to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of indigenous peoples and their unique traditions. This date was adopted in December of 1994 by the United Nations General Assembly. To celebrate this day yourself, people from around the World are encouraged to spread the UN’s message on the protection and promotion of the rights of indigenous peoples.
